New features in version 5.x
As a result of the increasing
complexity of automation systems, ever greater demands are being
made of project software in terms of reliability and improved
documentation. WSCAD has responded to this development by producing
version 5 of their successful E-CAD software. After close
consultation with WSCAD users, the development team at WSCAD
electronic GmbH have drawn up an extensive list of the features
which users have asked for.
These new features have now been incorporated into the programming
of WSCAD 5, so that in addition to many improvements in the detail,
a large number of new functions have been developed to support the
planning and design work of equipment and circuit designers and
project engineers.
The following pages give a brief
overview of some of the many new features. Can you afford to be
without these timesaving aids in the future?

New
developments in the Parts manager |
|

|
|
The easy-to-use Parts manager has been further extended to include
many new features. These include new filter criteria with operators
such as : <, <=, >, >=, =, <> for optimised parts
selection, and new import interfaces for CSV, ACCESS or DataNorm.
WSCAD 5 supports all databases which can be accessed with ODBC. This
enables access to SQL databases. Existing filters can now be deleted
with 'F10'.
New database access technologies enable the Parts manager make use
of the rapid database mechanisms in ACCESS and the power of
the new generation of high-performance computers. The Parts
manager offers a wealth of filter and sort functions which enable
you to find the desired part or symbol quickly.
A further innovation is the
connection between symbol and part. A symbol can be linked to one or
more parts; all such symbols are specially labelled and are thus
easy to find.
The method for creating a combination part is also new. A special
dialog displays all the individual accessory parts which can be used
to create the combination part. The dialog is also used to enter the
new name of the combination part.

Simple
creation of symbols using the Black box |
|

|
|
This function allows you to create
symbols quickly and simply during the planning stage without having
to leave your current working environment.
The black box command generates a
neutral rectangular symbol. Where the black box cuts into connection
lines, the connection pins are automatically placed and numbered.
Further connection pins can be positioned as required.
In the next dialog you are prompted
to input reference name, component name and part designation as well
as the individual connection names.

Rapid
symbol selection via Explorer |
|

|
|
Selecting symbols with the special Symbol explorer makes working
with WSCAD 5 even more efficient.
The universal symbol locator can be used with virtually any working
method. The appearance of the symbol locator can be altered to suit
your requirements, depending on the index tabs installed (Library/
Name/ Find).

Extensions
to the Project manager |

In addition to the file contents, you can also input two further
texts per drawing sheet; these can be listed on all forms.
Furthermore, two more folders are available to the user: for free
graphics and additional documents.
