| RasterServer enables you to automatically batch convert DWG, DXF and
HPGL files to PNG or JPG formats for use in HTML. In practice we find
that CAD line work usually converts to better looking images if PNG
format is used instead of JPEG. RasterServer can be integrated into an automated publishing system by employing PAR (parameter) files to control RasterServer. The external application creates these as simple text files and saves them to a directory which is polled by RasterServer. RasterServer does the rest. So integration can be done with simple scripting tools. No DLLs are required. |
Since
a Browser window can only hold a limited size image we suggest that
larger CAD images be converted either to PDF files for use with an
Acrobat Reader Plug-in. This approach provides zoom-in capability. The Acrobat Reader is a free tool and not designed with engineering use in mind. Other viewers are sold on a per-user license basis and can provide useful engineering functions such as measurement of length and area, annotation and print scaling. |
