| DOD
format compliance using Trix RasterServer |
|||
| The
JEDMICS C4 format is a CALS Raster format identified in the MIL-PRF-28002
as CALS Raster Type 4. The DoD requires all Drawing Repositories to
electronically store their Engineering Drawings and related Data in
JEDMICS-Joint Engineering Drawings Management Information Control System. Many sites use aperture card scanners to scan the drawings in to the JEDMICS system. This works great for archive data, but what about new drawings that are being created in CAD Systems? This is where RasterServer comes in. RasterServer provides a process to transfer digital files into CALS Raster Type 4 files without going to hard copies and scanning them back to digital. With Raster Server you can have a true digital transfer of Engineering Drawings from the development CAD Platform to the JEDMICS repository, a paperless environment. |
Raster
Server outputs a C4 file that, when combined with an index (dlf) file, can
be uploaded directly into JEDMICS using PC JEDMICS. And with RasterServer
you get to control resolution and line widths. A single RasterServer
license can support multiple users on a single network. C4 files can be saved on a CD for release, bidding and distribution (The Trix DrawingCenter demo viewer is suggested as a viewer). Many contractors are being required to deliver Engineering Drawings and Associated Lists digitally in CALS Raster Type 4. RasterServer is used by government organisations such as NAVAIR and TACOM, as well as vendors and contractors who need to release engineering drawings in a non-CAD format. |
